Frequently Asked Questions

What is your Therapeutic Approach?

My approach is solution focused; therapy is aimed toward identifying current symptoms and issues and developing appropriate solutions. My approach focuses on the connection between one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

What should I expect from an initial session?

The first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. In the initial sessions I ask many questions and discuss with you the issues or concerns you would like to address in therapy. Then together we develop an individualized treatment plan to meet your goals. Clients under 18 years old are asked to have a parent/guardian to attend the initial sessions.

How long will I be in therapy?

This answer is different for everyone. I believe in time and cost effective treatment, the length of therapy depends on the personal goals and needs. The estimated length of treatment will be discussed in the initial session and will be reviewed during later sessions.

How often do I attend therapy?

Therapy sessions vary from one to two times weekly or every other week, depending on the clients needs.

Do you prescribe medications?

No, I do not prescribe medications but work closely with psychiatrists and medical doctors for clients that require medication management.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I am a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO provider. I manage and submit all PPO claims. If you have a different insurance company or an HMO, I charge my per session fee and provide an invoice which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits. Coverage varies with different insurance policies.

It is important to get the following information from your insurance company.

-          Do I need pre-certification from a primary care doctor before seeing a therapist?

-          How many therapy sessions are covered per calendar year?

-          Is there a deductible on my policy?

-          What is my co-payment per session?

-          What percent of therapy visits is covered?
